Chelsea is an area of south-west London, England, bounded to the south by the River Thames, where its frontage runs from Chelsea Bridge along the Chelsea Embankment, Cheyne Walk, Lots Road and Chelsea Harbour. Its eastern boundary was once defined by the River Westbourne, which is now in a pipe above Sloane Square tube station. The modern eastern boundary is Chelsea Bridge Road and the lower half of Sloane Street, including Sloane Square. To the north and northwest, the area fades into Knightsbridge and South Kensington, but it is safe to say that the area north of King's Road as far northwest as Fulham Road is part of Chelsea.

Now situated in the London Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, the region, until 1965, formed its own borough. Many famous individuals have lived in Chelsea, as well as many famous books being set on the streets of Chelsea. One of the most notable residents was Spike Milligan who lived in central Chelsea.

Chelsea is now home to a range of boutiques and trendy café bars that appeal to all ages. Combine the trendy image with the excellent geographical location and it is easy to see why Chelsea remains one of the most expensive regions in London.

Chelsea is an affluent and enduringly fashionable area of West London noted for its shopping (Sloane Square and the King's Road), restaurants and historical associations. It is also the location each spring of the renowned Chelsea Flower Show.
